"To be a master in sports commentary for television and radio, one has to be the master of language and pronunciation" said the renowned sports commentator Mr. Kulwinder Mahay in a workshop organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication on Electronic media and sports commentary.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Desh Bandhu Gupta welcomed the guest Mr. Mahay and asked students to participate in the workshop enthusiastically. Dr. Gupta also shared his experiences related to sports. Dr. Desh Bandhu Gupta presented Mr. Mahay with the memento as a token of remembrance.
Mr. Mahay is associated with All India Radio and Doordarshan since last three decades and has done cricket commentary for National and International sports channels. Sharing his knowledge and experience with the students he shared command over language is the key to be a good commentator as words connect the audience. Maintaining the rhythm of the workshop, he engaged students in various activities and gave them the practical knowledge. He advised students to acquire field experience rather than concentrating only on books and theories. He shared his pet line "Rab Khair Kare" pointing out the importance of words according to the broadcasting.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Vijayta Taneja, Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and Gurpreet Singh. The stage was conducted in a decent manner by Sakshini Prabhakar(BAJMC SEM VI). Dr. Sandeep Vij, Prof H.K.Singh and Prof.Geeta Kashyap also witnessed the occasion.
