DAV University organised a rally to spread awareness about women empowerment. The rally was an extension of the National Girl Child Week commemorated by the University. The events were organised under the aegis of the Department of Education.
The rally was flagged off by the Vice-Chancellor Dr Desh Bandhu Gupta and Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW) Dr Jasbir Rishi. Addressing the students, the Vice Chancellor said that women have a major contribution in the development of the society and nation. Women have proved that they could perform well in all spheres of life including professions hitherto identified as male dominant.
Giving details of the event, Head, Department of Education Shefali Ravash said that the highlights of the programme included a signature campaign, street play on the theme of gender equality and different competitions. The faculty members and students of the University also pledged to fight gender discrimination and female foeticide.
