Dr Ambuj Sud being honoured before the lecture
NSS Unit of DAV University organized a guest lecture on incidence and prevention of sports injuries. The lecture was delivered by Dr Ambuj Sud, a noted orthopedic surgeon, under the aegis of Fit India Movement. The lecture was supported by Gee Enn Group – stationers.
Delivering the lecture, Dr Ambuj Sud said that sports injuries were common and cautioned that utmost attention should be paid to avert them. He said injuries could be cured with the help of RICE principle explained as the application of rest, icing, compression and elevation. Vitamins and health supplements also help in the fast recovery from the injuries, he said.
Dr Sud also talked about osteoporosis – a condition that occurs when the body loses too much bone, makes too little bone, or both. He said that women were more prone to osteoporosis. He said that osteoporosis could be prevented with a nutritious diet and adequate calcium intake. He added that people should avoid under-nutrition, particularly severe weight-loss diets.
Dr Hiteshwari Sabrol, Dr Ashutosh Sharma, the staff of Gee Enn Group, Ms Ravinder from the Nursing department were among the dignitaries at the occasion.
Green Diwali
The NSS Unit also launched the signature campaign for celebrating noise and pollution free Diwali. Various persons including Vice Chancellor of the University Dr Desh Bandhu Gupta, signed the pledge for a green Diwali.
