Report of 4th Annual Sports Meet 2016-2017

Two day, 4th Annual Sports Meet was concluded in DAV University, The Chief guest Mrs J.Kackria , Director Public School DAV College Management Committee ,New Delhi presented the trophies and medals to the winners. Occasion was graced by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr AK Paul, Registrar  Dr Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj. Chief  Guest Mrs J. Kackria assured that level of Sports in the University will be raised to the Sky height with the contribution of Chancellor DAV University Dr Punam Suriji.

DAV Univ successfully conducted two big tournaments namely NZ AIU Kho-Kho(M) Championship from 11th – 13th Nov 2016 and DAV Nationals for girls from 18 th – 20th Nov 2016.

Apart from these, Cross country race was also organized on the occasion of sports day i.e 29th Aug 2016 with the message of FITNESS RUN in which around 150 students participated.

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized a special lecture session on “Microwave Absorbing Materials for stealth Applications “by eminent scientist Dr. Sachin Tyagi from CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh. Dr. Tyagi and other respected dignitaries were welcomed by the faculty of the department Er. Gagan Deep and he briefed the session to the participants.

Workshop on Bhangra and Giddha at DAV University

DAV University inaugurates one-week Workshop on Bhangra and Giddha on 6 November 2017 with boundless joy and enthusiasm. The guests for the event were Shri K. P. S. Dhillon and Shri Niti Raj Singh who are the eminent personalities in the field of Gidda and Bhangra respectively.

The Department of Agriculture, DAV University, Jalandhar organised an Expert Lecture on, “Challenges and Opportunities of Agri-business in Emerging Economy”. Dr. Jasbir Rishi, Dean, DAVU offered the floral welcome to Prof. K. Narendran and Dr. K. On the eve of IETE foundation day, IETE sub-center Jalandhar, in collaboration with, Telcocrats technologies Pvt. Ltd Chandigarh, organized an expert talk and workshop on “Role of optical communication in the modern world” for the students of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

The annual talent hunt of DAV University - Spectrum 4.0 was organised on September 14, 2017. The students participated in numerous events with great enthusiasm. It was a two day contest that reflected the creative spark of the newly joined students if the University.

The students of B.Sc. (Hons) and M. Sc. (Hons) of Department of Physics recently organized the fresher’s party for the incoming students. Dr. Rajiv Kumar Coordinator, Department of Physics and Dr. R. Shanti Swarup BhatnagarPrize awardee motivates students at DAV University

FACULTY and students at DAV University got a rare opportunity to interact with Professor Kapil Hari Paranjape – one of the pioneers of Algebraic Mathematics in the world. Professor Paranjape, who was the Convener of a two-day Academies’ Lecture Workshop on Algebra and Number Theory said that a teacher could only play his role as a motivator in the process of learning.

A two day IETE North Zone Seminar and ISF Congress was held at DAV University Jalandhar on “Role of ICT in development of Smart Cities”on 6-7 September, 2017. ISF Congress was inaugurated on 6 September 2017, by Dr.Jasbir Rishi, Dean (Academics) in the presence of Dr. K. DAV University Jalandhar celebrated National Sports Day on the eve of Birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand

DAV University Jalandhar celebrated National Sports Day on the eve of Birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand. Cross country was organised in association with Physical Education Foundation of India (PFEI) on 31st August 2017. Event was postponed from 29th August 2017 due to administrative reasons. T-shirts were distributed to all the participants. 

The farmers from Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir visited the department of Agricultural Sciences

The farmers from Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir visited the department of Agricultural Sciences, DAV University Jalandhar on August 4, 2017 under Capacity Building Programme - Sadbhavana organised by the Indian Army’s regiment JAKLI (J&K Light Infantry).  Capt. Narinder along with 08 other army officials and 26 farmers of the block Chowkibal of Kupwara region of J&K interacted with the faculty of Agriculture and visited the agricultural farm at Alawalpur.  

Judoka honoured for international achievement

DAV University honoured Preeti, a student pursuing B.P.Ed for her achievement in 18th Asian Junior Judo Championship. This championship was held in Bishkek of Kirgistan country from12 July to 17 July. 19 Country participated in this tournament and India participated with a contingent of 16 players in Men and Women section.India won three bronze medals in women section. Preeti participated in 44kg weight catagory and won bronze medal for India.

DAV University, Jalandhar in association with Central Institute of hand tools organized in campus summer internship on Modeling and analysis software Creo.

Department of Mechanical Engineering, DAV University, Jalandhar in association with Central Institute of hand tools organized in campus summer internship on Modeling and analysis software ‘Creo’.  27 students along with one faculty member attended the course. Students were apprised of the advanced concepts of solid, surface and assembly modeling using Creo.

New session begins with Yajna at DAV University

DAV University welcomed its students for session 2017-2018 by performing Havan. The Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) A K Paul was the Chief Yajmaan whereas Registrar DAV University Dr Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj, Dean Academics Dr Jasbir Rishi and Prof Dr KN Kaul were other Yajmaan at the Havan ceremony.

A Faculty Development Programme on ‘Modern Methodologies for Teaching and Research’ commenced at DAV University on Thursday. The chief guest Prof R K Sinha, Director, CSIR-CSIO inaugurated the Programme. Prof Manoj Kumar, Principal, DAVIET was also present as the guest-of-honour.

DAV University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL), Mohali to promote research activities. 

VCs of DAV University and Central University, Punjab discuss modalities to promote research

The Vice Chancellors of DAV University, Jalandhar Dr A K Paul and Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) Dr R K Kohli reviewed the progress with regard to the execution of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) singed between both the institutions for promoting research. They also discussed modalities to ensure maximum benefit of the MoU to the students.

200 tree sapling planted at DAV University in collaboration of NGO Pahal

DAV University, Jalandhar launched a tree-plantation drive to increase the green cover on the campus. 200 tree saplings were planted during the drive launched by Dr A K Paul, Vice Chancellor of the University. The tree plantation drive was supported by NGO Pahal.

DAV University observes International Day of Yoga

Brimming with energy, the staff, students and people from adjoining villages gathered at DAV University on Wednesday to mark the third International Day of Yoga.
