April Cool day celebration by department of Chemical Engineering
April Cool Day is an initiative taken by the department to celebrate April Fool’s Day in an innovative manner by planting trees in the campus to help reduce the global warming effect causing climate change and by spreading awareness about global warming and its adverse effects on the environment.
Orientation Talk on Bird Conservation
An orientation talk was organised by the Department of Zoology on 29th March 2019 on the topic of Bird Conservation. Mr. T. K. Roy, ecologist & conservationist, State Coordinator Asian Water Bird Census, New Delhi, was invited expert speaker. He explained in detail about the important phenomenon related to Avifauna viz. bird migration, impact of climate change on migration, terrestrial & aquatic migratory birds of Punjab.
World Sparrow Day
World Sparrow day was celebrated on 20th March by DAV Zoological Society with great enthusiasm. World Sparrow Day is a day designated to raise awareness of the house sparrow and other common birds to urban environments, and of threats to their populations. It is an international initiative by the Nature Forever Society of India in collaboration with the Eco-Sys Action Foundation (France) and numerous other national and international organisations across the world.
DAV University organises DAV Utsav 2019
March 17 DAV College Jalalabad won overall trophy in music events at Utsav 2019 – an inter-college cultural competition organized by DAV University, Jalandhar. In other genres, GGDSD College, Chandigarh won overall trophy for dance events, HMV Jalandhar bagged overall trophy for drama, BBK DAV College, Amritsar picked up trophy for fine arts and DAV College, Abohar and GNDU, Amritsar grabbed overall trophy for media events.
Guest Lecture on Cancer: Prevention and Treatment
A guest lecture on Cancer: Prevention and Treatment was organised by the Women Empowerment Cell and the Dept of Zoology on 12th March 2019. Dr. Archana Dutta, Radiation Oncologist, Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences, Jalandhar, was invited as the speaker. In her lecture, she discussed the various causes of cancer viz. genetic, environmental, lifestyle etc and laid emphasis on the site need for early detection of the disease.
DAV University organizes sports meet
DAV University organized sixth Annual Sports Meet. The sports meet was inaugurated by chief guest Olympian, Padmashree and Dronacharya Awardee Mr Bahadur Singh, Commonwealth medalist in Judo Mr Navjot Chana. Addressing the participants, the chief guest Mr Bahadur Singh said that sports should be the integral part of life. Various dignitaries including the Vice Chancellor Dr Rakesh Kumar Mahajan and Registrar Dr. Sushma Arya, Vice Chancellor of Sant Baba Bhaag Singh University, Dr. J. S. Bal were present at the occasion.
DAV Coffee Table Book presented to Capt Amarinder Singh
The DAV University authorities presented a coffee table book published by DAV College Managing Committee to the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh chronicling the legacy and history of the DAV institutions.
Business Case Challenge-2019 Organised at DAV University
Anubhav - The CBM Club of DAV University organized the "Business Case Challenge-2019"on 23rd February 2019. Thirteen teams of three students each from different departments of the university participated in the contest.

Prof Rakesh Kumar Mahajan, Vice Chancellor, DAV University, Jalandhar has got research fellowship award. The award was conferred on him by Punjab Academy of Sciences. He is also elected as a fellow of the academy during its Executive Council meeting.

Dr Som Saini delivered a guest lecture on Stealth leadership on 22nd January, 2019 in the Department of Commerce and Business Management of DAV University. He is the managing partner at Awakened Stealth leadership LLP and the author of the book “Awakened Stealth Leadership”. 
DAV University organises self-defence camp for girls
The Women’s Empowerment Cell of DAV Univeristy, Jalandhar, along with Sanjay Karate Schools, organized a self-defence training camp for its girl students on 7th December, 2018. The expert for the session was the renowned Hanshi Alain Saily, the 8th Dan Goshindo and the international ambassador of the World Kobudo Federation who travels to almost 30 countries every year to spread the skills and values of martial arts.

A Faculty Development session was conducted by Harvard Business School Publishing for the faculty of Business studies on 3rd December, 2018. The speaker, Mr. Lav Nigam, focused on the methods which helped in making the transmission of knowledge from the faculty to the students highly effective.

Spectrum at DAV University concludes with music and dance
The last day of DAV University's talent hunt show Spectrum was dedicated to the competitions in various genres of performing arts including mono acting, mimicry, stand up comedy, street plays, song and dances. The programme was inaugurated by Prof Rakesh Kumar Mahajan, Vice Chancellor, Dr Jasbir Rishi, Dean Students' Welfare (DSW), Dr Sushma Arya, Registrar. Addressing the students, the Vice Chancellor Prof Mahajan said that the University was committed to nurture the hidden talent of the students. Dr Jasbir Rishi said that she was overwhelmed with the response to the programme. Some of hye students had the potential of carving out a niche in performing arts.
Seminar on “Drug Abuse: Its Causes and Prevention” at DAV University, Jalandhar
A seminar on Drug Abuse: It's Cause and Treatment was organized by the Department of Psychology at DAV University. Speakers in it inspired the students to stay away from any kind of addiction. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Rakesh Mahajan, Vice Chancellor of the University, by felicitating the Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gurmeet Singh with a bouquet. Gurmeet Singh said that he is committed to protect the youth of the district from the rising evil of drug addiction.
Two-day talent hunt fest takes off at DAV University - Spectrum 2018
Newcomers and old students at DAV University exhibited their talent at the annual art and cultural show Spectrum. The function was aimed at discovering exceptionally talented students to represent the University at various co-curricular competitions at the state and national levels.
Seminar on protected cultivation at DAV University
Use of vertical spaces and barren land for farming hold the key to double the income of the farmers. These spaces, if used for protected cultivation of fruits and vegetables, could be used to achieve the government’s target of enhancing the farm income two-fold by the year 2022. This was highlighted by Prof K K Jindal, UGC adjunct faculty, Department of Horticulture, Sikkim Central University at a seminar at DAV University on “Protected Cultivation of Fruits and Vegetables”. He said that Chinese used waste wrapping material sourced from Japan for setting up protected structures and enhanced vegetable productivity. Such models could be replicated in India, he added. The seminar was organized by Department of Agricultural Sciences at DAV University.
Green Chemistry Workshop
A one day workshop on “Green Chemistry practices in education, research and industry” was organized by the Department of Chemistry, DAV University, on 23rd August 2018, in collaboration with Green Chemistry Network Centre (GCNC), New Delhi. The main speaker of the event, Prof. R.K. Sharma from Department of Chemistry, University of Delhi, co-ordinator of GCNC and also the Honorary Secretary of Royal Society of Chemistry, London, North India Section, shared his valuable knowledge on the subject with almost 400 students who attended the event.
Eminent poet Surjit Patar, folk artists Pammi Bai and Sukhi Brar enthrall at DAV University, Jalandhar
Noted poet and writer Surjit Patar enthralled students at Kala Utsav – a cultural fest organized by DAV University in association with Punjab Kala Parishad on 8th August 2018. Sr. Surjit Patar – who presided over the function – recited his poems and engaged the students in a motivational dialoguein order  to encourage them to lead a happy and meaningful life.
NCM Teacher’s Enrichment Workshop in Mathematics at DAV University
A six days Teacher’s Enrichment Workshop on Algebra and Multivariable Calculus commenced successfully on May 28, 2018 at DAV University, Jalandhar. This workshop was organised by the Department of Mathematics, DAV University, Jalandhar, in collaboration with National Center of Mathematics (NCM) which is a joint venture of IIT Bombay and TIFR Mumbai.
